About Karina Barrero
DESCRIBE YOUR JOURNEY TO REAL ESTATE.
I grew up in Los Angeles and studied Communication and Spanish at University of California in Santa Barbara. After working as a Production Assistant at Access Hollywood, I took a leap of faith and moved to San Francisco, falling in love with the City by the Bay. After working in marketing for a few emerging startup companies, I was drawn to real estate by my interest and passion for taking Instagram photos of the gorgeous, colorful Victorian homes and historic architecture of SF.
I am inspired by the potential to integrate my experience in the booming Bay Area tech industry -- such as Internet marketing, email marketing, social media trends, web design, and data analytic. Staying current with new consumer trends, while maintaining core traditions, and a strong company culture are essential to the success of any small business.
WHAT ARE THREE WORDS YOUR CLIENTS WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE YOU?
Zen, Happy, Creative
WHAT MOST EXCITES YOU ABOUT YOUR WORK?
It's an exciting time in real estate and there are so many things to get pumped up about! What excites me about Sequoia are the possibilities to work with new people, technology, and social media. And I'm really motivated by the opportunities to collaborate in ways we never thought possible. I also love the idea of bringing a sense of purpose and happiness to someone's life. Plus, with a uniquely Ecuadorian and Colombian background, I can add my fluent Spanish to Sequoia's linguistic diversity!
WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING?
When I'm not working you can probably find me at Alamo Square or Dolores Park on a sunny day, or at a music festival!
WHAT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO GIVE UP?
Music - it's been around since the beginning of time for a reason. It helps people connect on a spiritual and emotional level. It's a beautiful form of art.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOURSELF?
I love yoga. It's a great physical and mental workout. You feel so amazing afterwards. It might be hard at first, but you can truly discover the innermost and sacred truths about yourself.
IF YOU COULD BE ANY ANIMAL, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
A pelican. When I lived on a cliff along the beach in Santa Barbara, I'd see these huge pelicans fly straight over our backyard in their Majestic "V" shape. They were huge and were, in a way, "surfing" the wind. I'd also see them catapult straight down into the water to catch fish. It was like watching Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel.
Spiders and bugs!!! I hate them so much!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ROOM IN THE HOUSE?
The living room, for sure. Sometimes I just need to lounge on the couch, and watch a documentary on Netflix with my kitten Leo.
