The Outer Sunset is the ideal neighborhood for those who appreciate spacious homes, quiet residential blocks, and easy access to the ocean. With Ocean Beach at its western border, the area is a beach lover’s paradise, drawing surfers, dog owners, and joggers year round. Perched over the water along Ocean Avenue are popular restaurants including the Beach Chalet Brewery and the Cliff House, as well as panoramic viewing spots and scenic hiking trails leading down toward the beach.

At the northern border of the Outer Sunset is Golden Gate Park, whose hiking and jogging trails, grassy picnic spots, lakes, and museums offer plenty of arts and recreation on the weekends and year round. Also nearby is the San Francisco Zoo, a 100-acre facility that includes an impressive children’s playground. For shopping and dining, Outer Sunset residents head to Noriega, Judah, and Irving Streets for a wide variety of ethnic eateries and laid-back mom-and-pop shops. © 2016 Maryann LoRusso
